JACQUES ROSSOUW
Each collection is a chapter
A body of work shaped by emotion, place, and time.
And sometimes just random scribbles.
Together, they trace my journey as an artist and a storyteller.
Explore them not just as artworks,
but as visual echoes of stories still unfolding.

Morning Ritual
Ink on paper
Sketches & Drafts
A series of ink drawings made first thing each morning, inspired by Matthew Wong’s daily painting practice. This ritual has helped me let go of perfection and embrace looseness.
Each piece is a quiet expression, feelings turned into form before words arrive.

In 2024, I began sharing a studio in Haarlem with other artists, where we meet every Sunday to draw and paint nude models. Figure drawing was a completely new practice for me and for a long time, I wasn’t drawn to using the human form as inspiration.

Now, I’m completely captivated by it. I can’t stop drawing people. Their forms, gestures, and stories have become a constant thread in my work.

Pottery
Ceramics
I began working with clay in 2023, soon after moving to the Netherlands. Pottery offered me a new dimension to my art — a way to give form and depth to ideas that once lived only in two dimensions. Working with clay taught me to balance control and surrender, patience and spontaneity. This collection marks the beginning of that journey, where learning the craft became a meditation in itself.
